The Karnataka Jnana Aayoga has recommended the constitution of the Kamataka State Innovation Council in the State. A National level innovation council (NtnC) has been constituted. The core focus of the National level innovation council is to drive the Indian Model of Innovation to provide solutions related to basic common needs for the people. The Chairman of National level innovation council has requested- the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka to also haye such an Innovative council in the State. This matter has been deliberated in detail and it has been decided to constitute the State Innovation Council in the State. Hence the following order.

In the above circumstances, the Government are pleased to constitute Karnataka State Innovation Council in the State with the following Chairman & Members of the Council and terms of reference.

Terms of Reference:-

  1. Support Government to promote innovation in the State.
  2. Map opportunities for innovation in the State.
  3. Identify and reward talent in innovation and disseminate success stories.
  4. Organise seminars, lectures, workshops on innovation and create State innovation portal to educate.
  5. Help to create innovation eco-systems.
  6. Evolving a State model of innovation with focus on inclusive growth.
  7. Facilitating linkages/networks among all the educational and knowledge institutions at aH levels for promotion of innovation in the State.
  8. Creating special research fund to encourage innovation outside the formal structure.
  9. Formulating special schemes/steps/measures to drive innovation in rural areas.
  10. Initiating policy measures to encourage innovation in social sectors like agriculture, education, health, ecology, rural and urban development, water resources, renewable energy.
  11. Encouraging innovation in governance; public service delivery and SMEs.
  12. Undertaking any other measure which the Council feels appropriate.
  13. Office of the Karnataka Jnana Aayoga shall be the Administrative Office and Secretariat of the Karnataka Innovation Council.
  14. The expenditure on account of Karnataka Innovation Council shall met be out of the budget of the Karnataka Jnana Aayoga

Initiatives

To nurture the ideas and innovations among the people KSInC supported a number of the innovative initiatives practices. Major projects/activities undertaken were:

  • Tod Fod Jod (TFJ): This program was executed by Agastya International Foundation. This program covered more than 2500 students, 150 teachers covering 71 schools across 10 districts of Karnataka 
  • Amulya 2012 : An encouragement program jointly initiated by Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka and KSInC supported by Karnataka Jnana Aayoga (Karnataka Knowledge Commission) to give away awards and incentives for patent applications granted/filed by Individuals, Researchers, Institutions, Research & Development(R&D) centers and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to protect their innovations.
