Karnataka gears up to set up Innovation Council for urban governance

MANGALORE: The urban development ministry in Karnataka is in the alacrity of setting up an innovation council. A fall out of the two-day conference on innovations in urban governance organised by union urban development ministry in Delhi last month, the proposed council is expected to give a better direction to function of urban local bodies in Karnataka, especially city corporations, minister for urban development Vinay Kumar Sorake said here.

Pitroda for more powers to mayors to improve cities' condition

Our cities are in "a state of mess" and the only way to improve the situation is to empower the mayors, Prime minister's advisor Sam Pitroda said today. "We must empower our mayors.
